The legal basis of intellectual property ownership and control of a Work as agreed amongst Collaborators who are Party to the development and Communication of the Work, as well as the accompanying commercial arrangements. Shared Meanings developed by Collaborators on the nature and form of copyright in the case of a particular Work.
A process that that begins with negotiations leading to an agreement, the stage of which is defined by Copyright Negotiation Status. Rights are defined and determined by Rights Type, Primary Publishing Rights, Secondary Publishing Rights, Rights Coverage and agreed Royalty arrangements. In the case of material Sourced or Quoted from elsewhere beyond the bounds of 'fair use', subsidiary Rights Permissions must be secured. Rights are given expression by a Rights Attribution and Rights Notice in the Work, and a Rights Agreement held by the Collaborators who were involved in the creation and Communication of the Work. Collaborators are also linked to the Publishing Services Provider responsible for the online publishing environment through a File Repository Agreement.
